What's new at New Hope?
NHCS is known for it's amazing hot lunch program, it is truly a hallmark of our school! It is a homemade meal offered to the kids that is lovingly prepared and served by volunteers. It takes approximately 30 volunteers per week to make hot lunch a reality for the students of NHCS.
For the 2018-2019 school year we are still in need of about 5 volunteers per week totaling 20 hours to optimally serve the growing student body. Due to this increased need it has been decided not to offer the brown bag option on Tuesdays that was offered last school year. It is the hope that these volunteer needs can be filled and we will be able to resume the brown bag option in November.
At this time the greatest needs are helping to prepare the meals from 8:00-11:00 and serving the meals from 11:00-1:00 on the days that hot lunch is offered. However there are many additional ways to volunteer with hot lunch. There are volunteer teams that meet on Sunday afternoons to prepare for the week, prepare items in their own home, grocery shop on Fridays, assist with counting forms, and assist with keeping the kitchen clean. If you are interested in volunteering with hot lunch in any of these areas or have any questions regarding hot lunch please contact the hot lunch coordinator, Angie Cartwright, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
